SU Women’s LAX Honors, Caps Skate Past Rangers, Nats Fall To Braves

The Shenandoah University Women’s Lacrosse team had five players named to the All-ODAC team in selections made this week by the league. Three were named to the first team: Alyson Bittinger, Madison Re, and Emma Stiffler. Bittinger led the ODAC this season with 64 goals.

After a fight-filled first period, the Washington Capitals settled down and skated past the New York Rangers 4-2. It was an emotional night for TJ Oshie, who returned to the ice after the death of his father and scored a hat trick for the Caps, who are now tied for first in the NHL’s Eastern Division. the Capitals are back on the ice tomorrow when they host the Philadelphia Flyers starting at 6:45 on the River 95-3.

The Washington Nationals lost to the Atlanta Braves for the second stright night, this time a 5-3 defeat. Marcell Ozuna cracked a grand slam to put the Braves ahead 4-0 and send the Nats to 12-14 on the season. Eric Fedde suffered the loss for the Nationals, who try to salvage the series finale this afternoon at 3:35 on Sports Radio 1450.

And, John Means threw a complete-game no-hitter as the Baltimore Orioles blanked the Seattle Mariners 6-0 yesterday. Means’ gem included 12 strikeouts, as the Birds improved to 15-16. Trey Mancini drove in 3 runs for Baltimore, who is off today.
