SU Women Spear Marlins, Rangers Cool Off Caps, NFL Weekend Begins
On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Hornet Women’s Basketball opened ODAC play last night with a 57-44 win over Virginia Wesleyan. The defending league champs used an 18-8 second stanza to pull away from the Marlins as the improve to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC. Olivia Weinel had 16 to lead SU.
Hornet Football concludes it’s 2019 season Saturday with a home matchup against Methodist. Air time is 11:30am on The River 95-3. With a win, SU would finish 6-4 overall.
In college hoops, Virginia Tech rolled to a 100-64 win at home last night over Delaware State 100-64. The Hokies are off to a 5-0 start.
The New York Rangers tallied 3 goals in the third period to cool off the Washington Capitals last night 4-1 in New York. Evgeny Kuznetzov scored the lone goal for the 16-4-4, who return to action Saturday afternoon against Vancouver. Air time is 12:15 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
And the NFL weekend kicks off tonight as the Indianapolis Colts teke on the Houston Texans. Both teams are in the playoff hunt at 6-4. Kickoff is set for 8:20 in Texas.
