NFL Weekend Begins, UVA Game PPD, NBA Players Expected To OK Start

The NFL weekend begins tonight with the Green Bay Packers taking on the San Francisco 49ers. The Packers are 5-2, and coming off a loss to Minnesota on Sunday, while the ‘Niners are 4-4, and will be without their injured starting quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo. In addition, four San Francisco players, including left tackle Trent Williams, will not play, as they have been placed on the reserve/Covid-19 list. Kickoff is set for 8:20.

This weekend’s college football game between Virginia and Louisville has been postponed after an increase in positive coronavirus tests among the Louisville team. The contest has been rescheduled to November 14th, when both squads have a bye week.

And, the NBA’s board of governors and players association will hold separate meetings today, after which both are expected to agree to start the new season on December 22nd, and play a shortened 72-game schedule. The previous season just ended on October 11, with the LA Lakers winning the NBA Championship.
