The Washington Nationals have eliminated the LA Dodgers from the MLB postseason with a 7-3 win last night in Game 5 of the NLDS. Howie Kendrick’s dramatic grand slam in the top of the 10th set off a wild dugout celebration and gave the Nationals their first postseason series win in franchise history. Down 3-0, Washington chipped away and tied the game in the 8th off Clayton Kershaw on back-to-back homers by Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto, and a patchwork bullpen held things together until Kendrick’s blast in the 10th. The Nats will now take on the Cardinals in the NLCS starting tomorrow in St. Louis starting at 8:08.
The Cards advanced by beating the Braves 13-1 yesterday in Game 5 of their NLDS in Atlanta. The drama was taken out of the game early, as St. Louis scored 10 runs in the first inning.
The NFL weekend begins tonight with the Thursday Night matchup when the Giants visit unbeaten New England. Kickoff is set for 8:20.
The Washington Capitals skate in Nashville tonight against the Predators. The Caps are off to a 2-0-2 start. Air time is 7:45 on Sports Radio 1450.
And, it’s a deciding Game 5 tonight in the WNBA Finals as the Washington Mystics host the Connecticut Sun.
