The Washington Nationals are World Series Champions after a 6-2 come-from-behind win in Houston last night. Trailing 2-0, the Nats scored all of their runs from the 7th inning on, including the go-ahead 2-run homer from Howie Kendrick. After 5 innings of 2-run baseball, Max Scherzer gave the ball to Patrick Corbin for 3 scoreless frames, and Daniel Hudson closed the door on the Astros in the 9th for the first Series win in franchise history. The Nats, who were 5-0 in elimination games in the 2019 post-season, won all 4 games of the Series on the road. Stephen Strasburg was named Series MVP.
Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams failed his physical yesterday due to helmet discomfort. Skins Head Coach Bill Callahan said that Williams would have passed the physical otherwise. The holdout reported this week to Redskins Park ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
In the NFL Thursday Night matchup tonight, the Cardinals take on the undefeated 49ers.
And, West Virginia and number-12 Baylor kick off the college football weekend tonight in Texas. Kickoff is set for 8pm.
