NFL Season Kicks Off Tonight, Nats-Braves Tonight, Mets Nip O’s
The NFL season begins tonight as the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans. State and local officials are allowing fans at Arrowhead Stadium at 22 percent capacity, and they’ll be required to wear face masks whenever they can’t maintain social distance.
The New York Mets plated a run in the 8th inning to beat the Baltimore Orioles last night 7-6. Despite out-hitting New York 14-10, the O’s couldn’t hold an early 5-1 lead as they fall to 20-22 on the season. The Birds will stay in the Big Apple to take on the Yankees tonight at 7:05.
The Nationals start a crucial 4-game set with the Atlanta Braves tonight in DC. The Nats find themselves 8 games behind the NL-East leaders at 16-25 with just 19 games remaining in the shortened season. Air time tonight is 5:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
And, Serena Williams advanced to the semifinals of the US Open tennis tournament by beating Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova in 3 sets. Williams is continuing her quest for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title.
