Nats Get A Curly “W”, NFL Week 2 Begins, USA B-Ball Stunned By France
The Washington Nationals got a 3 RBI night from Ryan Zimmerman and solid pitching from Stephen Strasburg to beat the Minnesota Twins last night 6-2. Zimmerman’s night included a 2-run homer in the 3rd inning that gave the Nats a 5-0 lead, and all the runs they would need. Strasburg improved to 17-6 on the year by giving up only 2 runs in 6 innings, and the Nationals bullpen provided 3 scoreless innings of work. The Nats, now 3 and 1/2 games up in the NL Wild Card race, take on the Twins again tonight. Air time is 7:10 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles beat the Dodgers last night at Camden Yards 7-3. The Birds scored 6 runs in their last 3 at-bats to get the win over the NL West champs. The teams play the series finale tonight at 7:15.
Week 2 in the NFL begins tonight as Tampa Bay visits Carolina. The Bucs lost their opener against San Francisco 31-17, while The Panthers fell to the Rams 30-27. Kickoff is set for 8:20.
The USA basketball team suffered an 89-79 defeat at the hands of France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup tournament. With the loss, the USA National team sees it’s 58- game winning streak come to an end. The USA can finish no better than 5th when they take on Serbia today (7am).
And, The Shenandoah University football season begins Saturday with a trip to NC Wesleyan. The 1-0 Bishops are coming off an overtime win Saturday against Emory & Henry. Air time is 11:30 am on The River 95-3.
