SU Announces 10th Game, Nats Fall To Cards, NFL Week 3 Begins
On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Field Hockey defeated Mary Washington 3-2
Volleyball fell to W&L 3-0.
There are no Hornet athletic events scheduled today
Meanwhile the SU Athletic Department announced that the cancelled football opener against Methodist will be made up on November 23rd at Shentel Stadium, provided either team isn’t in the NCAA playoffs. The game was cancelled on September 7th due to Hurricane Dorian.
The Washington Nationals were beaten yesterday by the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1. Max Scherzer was charged with all 5 Cardinal’s runs, but deserved a better fate. Juan Soto lost a fly ball in the sun, which opened the floodgates to a 3-run 7th inning for St. Louis. The Nats stay 1 and 1/2 games up in the NL Wild Card race thanks to losses last night by the Cubs and Brewers, and now head to Miami for a series starting Friday night on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles blew a 7-1 lead and lost to the Toronto Blue Jays last night 11-10 at Camden Yards. The 2 teams play the series finale tonight at 7:05.
And, the NFL weekend begins tonight, as Tennessee visits Jacksonville in an AFC South matchup. The Jags are looking for their first win of the season, while the Titans are 1-1. Kickoff is slated for 8:20.
