Nats Fall To Mets, NFL Season Begins Tonight, Nadal Advances
The Washington Nationals stranded 12 base runners and failed to build on their miraculous comeback from the previous night in an 8-4 loss to the New York Mets yesterday. Nats’ starter Anibal Sanchez struggled with his control and gave up 7 runs, as the Mets took 2 of 3 in the series, and 12 of 19 on the season. The Nationals try to regroup as they head to Atlanta tonight to start a 4-game series with the NL East leaders. Air time is 6:50 on Sports Radio 1450. Stephen Strasburg takes the ball for the Nats.
The Orioles start a series tonight against the Texas Rangers tonight at Camden Yards.
The NFL season begins tonight with a Thursday Night matchup of NFC Central teams. The Chicago Bears entertain the Green Bay Packers at 8:20.
At the US Open tennis tournament, number-2 seed Rafael Nadal easily dispatched of Diego Schwartzman in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, 6-2. Nadal now moves to the semifinal round on Friday. Serena Williams is back in action tonight when she takes on Elina Svitolina in the semis.
Locally, Skyline hosts Broadway tomorrow night at 6:50 on our Sports Radio 1450 Game of the Week, while Shenandoah University will have to wait another week to open it’s 2019 campaign. Methodist University was scheduled to invade Shentel Stadium Stadium Saturday, but the Monarchs closed their campus due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian. The Hornets will now open the season next Saturday at NC Wesleyan.
