SU Sports, Canes Embarrass Caps, Nats Host SF Tonight

SU Men’s golf is fourth after day one of the Glenn Heath Memorial in Williamsburg. Jeremy Mills carded a 78 to lead the Hornets, who are 16 shots behind first-place Virginia Wesleyan. The tournament resumes today.

In other SU news, sophomore Alyson Bittinger earned her second ODAC Player Of The Week honor of the season in women’s lacrosse, while
junior Keegan Woolford was named Player Of The Week in baseball by the league.
The Washington Capitals were out-shot 45-18 by the Carolina Hurricanes last night in a 5-0 loss in Game 3 of their opening round playoff series. The Caps were dominated in all phases of the game, but still lead the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1 as they prepare for Thursday night’s Game 4 in Raleigh. Air time is 6:45 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Nationals entertain the San Francisco Giants tonight in DC. Stephen Strasburg takes the hill for the 7-7 Nats, who are fourth in the NL East, 2 games behind the first-place Mets. Air time tonight is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
Chris Davis hit his first home run since last August as the Orioles beat the Red Sox in Boston on Patriot’s Day. Dan Straily pitched 5 innings of 1-run, 2-hit ball to get the win. The O’s head to Tampa to take on the Rays tonight at 7:05.
And, Kenya’s Lawrence Cherono and Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa were the men and women’s winners yesterday at the 2019 Boston Marathon. The two second men’s victory by Cherono was the closest since 1988.
