SU Update, Caps Rally Falls Short, Bryce & The Phils In DC Tonight
There were no athletic events on the Shenandoah University sports scene yesterday. Today, baseball hosts York in a 3:30 matchup at Bridgeforth Field.
Down 4-0, the Washington Capitals rallied in the third period last night, only to fall to the Florida Panthers 5-3. A Jakub Vrana goal made it a one-goal game and capped a 3-goal third, but Florida sealed the deal with an empty net tally for the final score. The Caps, who still hold a 3 point lead in the Metro Division, are back in action Thursday against Montreal on Sports Radio 1450.
The Nationals host the 3-0 Philadelphia Phillies tonight at Nats Park, as Bryce Harper returns with his new team. Max Scherzer gets the ball for 1-2 Washington. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450. Harper already has hit 2 home runs for Philadelphia.
The Baltimore Orioles are off to a 3-1 start after a 6-5 win last night against Toronto. Baltimore starter David Hess was pulled after 6 and a-third innings of no-hit baseball, as the O’s had to hang on for the win. The Orioles are in Toronto tonight for a 7:07 first pitch against the Jays.
And, the fledgling Alliance of American Football may be short-lived. AAF founder Tom Dundon is threatening to shut down the league if it can’t reach a development agreement with the NFL, and there is no such deal in sight. The shutdown could reportedly come within days.
