Nats Bats Stay Hot, Royals Nip O’s, ‘Skins Prep For “Dress Rehearsal”
The Washington Nationals took their hot bats on the road and beat the Pittsburgh Pirates last night 13-0. The Nats piled up 15 hits, including 4 from Juan Soto and 3 from Matt Adams, as every Nationals starter had at least one hit. Asdrubal Cabrera drove in 5 runs for the Nats, who have now scored 62 runs in their last 5 games. Four Washington pitchers combined for the 4-hit shutout. The Nationals send Stephen Strasburg to the mound tonight at PNC Park. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles fell to the Kansas City Royals last night at Camden Yards, 5-4, as an O’s rally fell short in the 9th inning. The two teams, who have combined for 166 losses on the season, play again tonight at 7:05.
The Washington Redskins are preparing for their so-called “dress rehearsal” preseason matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. Traditionally, the starters get more action in week 3. ‘Skins Head Coach Jay Gruden said he expects running back Derrius Guice to get some action on Thursday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 in Atlanta.
The South Riding Little League All-Stars have a day off before preparing for their next contest in the Little League World Series.
The Southeast Regional Champs from Loudoun County will take on Hawaii, the West regional champs, Wednesday at 7:30. The winner will advance to the US title game, while the loser will play an elimination game.
