Caps Lose In Shootout, Nats-Mets Tonight, Big-12 Announces Sked
The Washington Capitals returned to the ice last night, and lost 3-2 in a shootout to Tampa Bay. The game was the first in an Eastern Conference round-robin to determine seeding in the NHL playoffs.
The Caps rallied from 2-0 down and got second period goals from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Richard Panik to tie the game, but ultimately fell in the Shootout. The Caps are back on the ice Thursday against Philadelphia.
Weather permitting, the 3-4 Washington Nationals are back in action tonight against the New York Mets. The Nats haven’t played since Thursday, because the Miami Marlins were in quarantine this weekend.
The Nats have not named their starter. Steven Matz takes the mound for the Mets. Air time is 6:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles take on the aforementioned Marlins at 7:35, in the first of a 4-game set. The Birds are off to a 5-3 start.
In the NBA, the Wizards fell to Indiana 111-100.
And, The Big-12 schools last night agreed to a 10-game football season. Under the plan, the teams will play a 9-game conference schedule, with one non-conference game. The Big-12 said the season will likely begin in mid to late September, but did not give a specific date.
