Strasburg Stays With Nats, Jackets Cool Off Caps, Eagles Top Giants
Stephen Strasburg has agreed to a record 7-year, $245 million contract and will remain with the Washington Nationals. Strasburg had opted out of his 7-year, $125 million deal at the end of the Nat’s World Championship season. The righthander, who had just moved his family to DC, is coming off his best season, and became the only pitcher to ever go 5-0 in a post season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets cooled off the Washington Capitals last night 5-2 at Capital One Arena. Alex Ovechkin had a goal and an assist for the Caps, who remain atop the NHL’s point standings. The Capitals, who saw their 6-game win streak come to an end, take on the Boston Bruins tomorrow night. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
A storybook ending was not to be for Eli Manning and the New York Giants last night, as the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for a 23-17 overtime win in the Monday Night game. The game was thought to be the final start for Manning, who threw for over 170 yards in the first half, but only 24 in the second half, as Philly came back from a 17-3 halftime deficit. The Eagles, who are now tied with Dallas for the NFC East lead, face the Redskins on Sunday.
And tonight, it’s high school hoop on CBS Sports Radio 1450, as Warren County entertains Central. Air time is 7:20.
