Chaney Named POW, Seahawks Ouscore Vikes, UVA Comes In At Number 5
On the Shenandoah University sports scene:
Chris Chaney has been named ODAC Player Of The Week for Men’s Basketball in selections made yesterday by the league. Chaney averaged over 22 points per game last week in wins over Juniata, Emory & Henry, and Gallaudet. The Virginia Beach native also added 27 rebounds as the Hornets improved to 3-2. Next up for the Hornets, a home contest tomorrow against Marymount. Air time is 6:40 on The River 95-3.
In Women’s Soccer, senior Emily Yergin was named All-South Atlantic Region. Yergin, Shenandoah’s all-time leading scorer, was named second team forward.
The Seattle Seahawks have taken over first place in the NFC West after last night’s 37-30 win over Minnesota in the NFL Monday Night Game. Russell Wilson threw for 240 yards and 2 TD’s, while Chris Carson added 102 rushing yards as Seattle improved to 10-2. The Vikings fall to 8-4.
Virginia climbed 2 spots to number-5 in the latest AP College Basketball Poll. Louisville is the fourth team this season to hold the number-1 spot, while Kansas, Maryland, and Michigan round out the rest of the top 5.
And, The Washington Capitals are back on the ice tonight in a late skate at San Jose. The Caps are 19-4-5 and are tied with Boston atop the Eastern Conference with 43 points. Air time is 10:15 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
