Joe Burrow threw for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns as LSU defeated Clemson 42-25 in the CFP Championship Game last night. LSU overcame a slow start but erupted for 21 points in the second period to complete a perfect 15-0 season. Clemson, the defending national champion, had it’s 29-game win streak come to an end.
The Washington Capitals broke a 2-game losing skid and blanked the Carolina Hurricanes last night 2-0. Alex Ovechkin scored both Caps goals in the first period, and goalie Ilya Samsonov stopped 23 Carolina shots for the shutout. Next up for the Capitals, a Thursday face-off with New Jersey. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
And, the Houston Astros have been hit with the largest penalty ever administered by Major League Baseball for using technology to steal signs during the 2017 season. In addition to losing draft choices this year and next, Houston’s GM and Manager were fined and suspended for one year, and then were fired by the team. The Astros were also fined $5 million.
