Area High School Hoop…Cavs & Hokies In AP Top 25…Wiz Host Cavs
In area boys high school basketball last night:
Strasburg outlasted Clarke 51-47
Central beat Stonewall Jackson 65-47
and Kettle Run nipped Millbrook 59-58
In girls hoop:
Millbrook rolled past Kettle Run 73-26
Sherando defeated Faquier 54-37
Handley got past Hampshire 51-46
St.James routed SVCA 65-28
and RMA beat St. Michael 34-18
The Shenandoah Hornets return to men’s basketball action tomorrow. SU will entertain nationally-ranked Randolph Macon in an ODAC matchup. Tip off is at 7 from the Wilkins Center, and you can hear the action on The River 95-3.
The Hornet women are back in action Saturday. They’ll take on Randolph at 2 as part of a women-men’s home doubleheader. The Men will host Ferrum at 4.
The latest AP Top-25 College Basketball Poll is out and Virginia remains at number-3 this week after disposing of Notre Dame over the weekend. The cavaliers recieved 4 first-place votes. The Virginia Tech Hokies are number-12 in the nation at 16-3. Tech beat Syracuse over the weekend 78-56.
The Washington Wizards travel to Cleveland tonight for a 7pm tip against the Cavaliers. The Wizards are fighting for the final playoff spot in the NBA’s Eastern Conference and are currently 3 games behind the number 8 seed Charlotte Hornets.
And, according to the annual Madden Super Bowl simulation, the Rams will beat the Patriots in the Big Game 30-27. By the way, the Madden simulation is only about 50 percent accurate. Catch the play-by-play of Super Bowl 53 this Sunday on The River 95-3.
