VBL:Express Derails Woodstock, Nats Bats Explode, Warriors Stay Alive
Rain washed out all but 2 Valley League baseball games last night as
Strasburg blanked Woodstock 4-0, and Charlottesville clobbered Staunton 11-3. Tonight in the VBL:

C’Ville visits Front Royal
Purcellville entertains Waynesboro
New Market travels to Harrisonburg

The Washington Nationals routed the Chicago White Sox 12-1 last night as Trey Turner and Adam Eaton each had 3 hits, and Kurt Suzuki added a grand slam homer as punctuation in a 6-run 9th inning. The Nats also got 6 innings of 1-run, 4-hit pitching from Anibal Sanchez and 3 scoreless innings from the bullpen, as Washington won for the 12th time in their last 16 games. The Nationals go for the sweep tonight in Chicago. Air time is 7:40 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles are back in action tonight against Toronto. First pitch is 7:05 at Camden Yards.
The Golden State Warriors stayed alive in the NBA Finals with a 106-105 win against Toronto, but suffered a huge blow in the process, as Kevin Durant left the contest with an apparent achilles injury. Durant had returned to the lineup after being out the entire series, and only played 11 minutes when he went down last night. Despite the loss, the Raptors still lead the best of 7 series 3-2, as the Finals move back to Oakland Thursday night.
And the USA women’s soccer team plays it’s first match today in the FIFA World Cup. They’ll take on Thailand at 3pm.
