MLB Plans To Set Season, Drivers Support Wallace, Bertans To Sit Out
MLB plans to set a 60-game regular season after the players’ union yesterday voted down a proposal of the same length with other provisions. MLB used the right given in a March agreement with players to impose a schedule of the length of it’s choice. Opening Day would likely be at the end of July.
After a noose was found Sunday in the garage stall of NASCAR’s only black driver, Bubba Wallace, the 39 other drivers came together yesterday at Talladega in a show of unity. Before yesterday’s rain-delayed race, drivers and crews pushed Wallace’s car to the front of the field in a display of support. The race itself was won by Ryan Blaney.
And, the Washington Wizards’ Davis Bertans won’t be playing in the NBA season restart, according to ESPN. He’s the first player to make such an announcement. The 27 year-old is sitting out the 2020 season as a preventative measure. Bertans has free agency in his future, and 2 knee injuries in his past. The Wizards are reportedly supportive of the decision.
