VHSL Playoffs Resume, SU Scoreboard, Caps Rally Falls Short
The VHSL Basketball playoffs resume tonight for 5 area teams. Here is the schedule for tonight’s state semifinal games:
In boy’s Class 4, it’s Millbrook vs Wilson at Sherando HS at 7pm
In boy’s Class 3, Central plays Cave Spring at 8 in Salem
In girl’s Class 4, Millbrook plays Monacan at Midlothian HS at 6:30
In girl’s Class 2, Strasburg takes on Luray at Page County HS at 6:30
On the Shenandoah University sports scene,
Softball won a pair of games in Myrtle Beach, beating MacMurray 8-1, and New Jersey City 12-3 at the Fast Pitch Dreams tourney. The Hornets will take on MacMurray again this morning at 9.
Men’s Golf stands 14th after day one of a tournament in Beaufort, SC.
Women’s golf stands fifth in the tournament, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
In addition to softball, Women’s Tennis and Women’s Lacrosse are in action today.
The Washington Capitals rallied with 2 third period goals but ultimately lost to Buffalo in the shootout portion of overtime 3-2.
In the contest, Alex Ovechkin tallied his 48th goal of the season, as the Caps pick up a point to move into sole possession of first place in the NHL’s Metro Division.
The ACC Basketball begins tonight for the Virginia Tech Hokies, who take on 14-seed North Carolina. Tip off tonight in Greensboro is 7pm.
In other college basketball news, WVU re-entered the AP Top 25 poll at number 22 after 2 wins last week. Virginia climbs to number 17 after a big win against Louisville.
And in Spring Training baseball, the Nationals take on the Miami Marlins this afternoon at 1:05.
