SU Baseball Wins 5th Straight, Wiz Win, Caps & Pens Tonight
On the Shenandoah University sports scene,
Hornet baseball won it’s fifth straight game with a 7-2 win yesterday over Messiah at Bridgeforth Field. Trailing 2-1, SU scored 4 runs in the sixth inning and 2 more in the seventh to pull away from the 4-2 Falcons. Freshman Carson Kulina, making his first-ever varsity start, gave up only 2 unearned runs in 6 innings of work to get the win for the 5-2 Hornets. Next up for Shenandoah is a Wednesday trip to Mary Washington.
Meanwhile, women’s golf stands sixth with a collective 371 at the Adidas/Taylor Made Invitational in Beaufort, SC, while the men are 15th. That tournament continues today.
Hornet softball hosts Rhode Island college in a noon doubleheader, while men’s lacrosse heads to Frostburg State.
The red-hot Washington Capitals return to the ice tonight to take on rival Pittsburgh. The Caps, winners of seven straight, are currently in fourth place in the NHL’s Eastern Conference, while the Penguins are in seventh place. Air time is 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Wizards outlasted the Sacramento Kings last night in DC 121-115, as Bradley Beal poured in 27 points.
The St.Louis Cardinals nipped the Washington Nationals yesterday 3-2 in Spring training action. The Houston Astros take on the Nats tonight at 6:35. The regular season begins March 28th on your area play-by-play home of Nationals baseball, CBS Sports Radio 1450.
And in a game with local interest, Wofford s punched it’s ticket to the NCAA basketball tournament last night with a 70-58 win in the Southern Conference championship game. Former Handley standout Cameron Jackson contributed 15 points for the 29-4 Terriers.
