MLB Pushes Back Season, NFL Draft Without Fans, NASCAR Postponements
In a statement yesterday by Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, after a conference call with the 30 MLB teams, and in conjunction with the new CDC guidelines, the opening of the 2020 season will be pushed back. MLB will keep fans posted as they continue to monitor the coronavirus situation.
The upcoming NFL Draft will be held as planned April 23-25, but without public events in the Las Vegas area, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Comissioner Roger Goodell said in a news release that the decision was made with guidance from the CDC and health officials in the Nevada and Las Vegas areas.
NASCAR has pushed the resumption of it’s season back further, postponing 5 more races, through May 3rd. The next scheduled race is May 9th in Martinsville.
And, the Kentucky Derby has been postponed until September.
