IOC Sets Olympic Dates, Wimbledon Off, Nats Facility Used For Testing
The International Olympics Committee has set July 23rd through August 8th of 2021 for the Tokyo Olympics. The Games had been set for this Summer before the coronavirus pandemic caused their postponement.
Coronavirus 1, Wimbledon, love. The iconic tennis tournament will be canceled for the first time since World War II, says a Tennis Federation official, who spoke to Sky Sports Germany. The final decision won’t come until Wednesday, but it looks like a done deal. Thousands of fans converge on the annual event in England, scheduled this year for a June 29 start.
With the Washington Nationals Spring Training facility closed, parts of the complex will be used as a coronavirus testing facility. The National Guard took over the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches facility on Sunday. In a related note, Nats GM Mike Rizzo says no Nationals players have shown symptoms of the virus and none have been tested.
And, former Saints kicker Tom Dempsey has a mild case of the coronavirus. That’s according to his daughter, who spoke to a New Orleans newspaper. The 73-year old Dempsey kicked a 63-yard field goal back in 1970, an NFL record that held up until 1998.
