Hornets Regional Matchup Set, Nats Return Home, O’s-Yanks Postponed
The Shenandoah University baseball team will travel to Union, New Jersey this weekend as the NCAA D-3 Tournament begins. The 31-12 Hornets will take on the 29-4 Kean Cougars Friday in a 4-team regional that also includes Ithica (NY) and Westfield State (Mass). This is SU’s 10th trip to the NCAA Regionals since 2009. Shenandoah punched it’s ticket by winning the ODAC tourney this past weekend.
In other SU news, it was announced that in a mutual parting of the ways, tennis coach Larry Hubbard will leave the program at the end of this month. Hubbard led women and men’s tennis to a combined 100 wins in his 9 years as head coach.
And in track & field 3 Hornets competed in the SWAT Final Qualifier at Swarthmore College. Jason White posted a first place finish in the triple jump, Elijah Morton ran a sub-11 second 100 meter dash, and Emily Miller ran a new school and personal record in the 5k.
The Washington Nationals return home to face the New York Mets tonight. The Nats find themselves at 16-24, 8 games behind the Phillies in the NL East. Jeremy Hellickson takes the hill for the Nationals. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
And the Orioles and Yankees were rained out last night in New York. The 2 teams will try again tonight at 6:35.
