5 Hornets Named To All-Tourney Team, Nats Lose Another Series Opener
On the heels of their Regional Championship this past weekend, 5 Shenandoah University baseball players have been named to the All-Tournament team. Ryan Coulon, Robert Marcelle, Tristan Baker, Grant Thompson, and Keegan Woolford were all named to the 10-man team. The Hornets, champions of the Union (NJ) Regional, will now travel to Baltimore for a best 2-of-3 Super Regional starting Friday against Johns Hopkins. SU is 35-13, while the Blue Jays are 33-11.
The New York Mets jumped on Washington starter Patrick Corbin for 4 early runs, and beat the Nationals 5-3 last night at Citi Field. Anthony Rendon was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for the Nats, who now are 9 games behind the Phillies in the NL East. The two teams play again tonight in New York. Air time is 6:40 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles blew a 6-1 lead and were outslugged by the New York Yankees last night 10-7 at Camden Yards. The Yanks posted 4 runs in the ninth inning to take the lead, dropping the O’s to 15-32 on the season. The 2 teams meet again tonight at 7:05.
And, the Washington Redskins suffered a major blow on the first day of OTA’s yesterday. Linebacker Reuben Foster was carted off with an ACL tear on just the third snap of the workout, and will miss the entire season, according to reports. The troubled linebacker was acquired by the ‘Skins after being waived by the 49ers last season.
