SU Season Ends, Nats Fail To Sweep, O’s Tame Tigers
The Shenandoah University baseball season came to an end over the Memorial weekend, as the Hornets were swept by Johns Hopkins in their
NCAA “Super-Regional”. SU dropped game one of the best-of-three series 6-3 on Friday, then was eliminated Saturday in game two, 7-3. In the second game, the Blue Jays erased a 2-1 Hornet lead with a 4-run fourth. Hopkins now advances to the D-3 College World Series, while Shenandoah ends it’s season at 35-15. With the loss, the Spring sports schedule comes to a close at Shenandoah.
The Washington Nationals lost to the Miami Marlins yesterday 3-2 in DC. Max Scherzer once again provided the Nats with another quality start, giving up only 1 run in 6 innings, but failed to get the decision as the National’s bullpen surrendered yet another late lead.
Washington is now 2-10 in games Scherzer has started this season. The Nats now travel to Atlanta for a 2-game series. Air time tonight is 6:50 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles beat the Detroit Tigers yesterday 5-3, using a makeshift bullpen of Dan Straily and Shawn Armstrong. The Birds host the Tigers again tonight at Camden Yards, with first pitch at 7:05.
And, over the holiday weekend:
Kevin Na won the Forth Worth Invitaional PGA Tour stop, while Martin Truex, Jr. captured the Coca Cola 600 Nascar race in Charlotte, NC.
