Sonnenberg Named ODAC POW, Cowboys Prevail On MNF, Wiz Down Pistons
Shenandoah University Freshman quarterback Chris Sonnenberg was named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week in selections announced yesterday by the league. Sonnenberg threw for 393 yards and 6 touchdowns in his first-ever start Saturday against Ferrum, leading the Hornets to a 49-31 road win. The 6 TD passes tied for second best all time in program history. SU is off this week before hosting W&L November 16th on Senior Day.
Meanwhile, the Hornets have announced the addition of 2 part-time coaches to the Men and Women’s Basketball teams. Greg Morris has been added as an assistant on the women’s side, while former SU player Jordan Hunter has been added to the men’s side. Hornet Women’s hoop begins Saturday at home against Marymount, while the men tip off this Friday at Mary Washington. You can hear that one starting at 6:40 on The River 95-3.
The Dallas Cowboys overcame an early 12-3 Giants lead and ran away with a 37-18 Monday Night Football win in New York. Dallas put the game out of reach with a 21-point 4th quarter as they improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Washington Wizards got their second win of the young NBA season, a 115-99 victory over Detroit. Bradley Beal led the way with 22 points for the Wiz.
And, in a formality that both are expected to decline, the Washington Nationals have extended 1-year, $17.8 million qualifying offers to both Stephen Strasburg and Anthony Rendon. Both are expected to decline.
