Postseason begins For Nats, Steelers Rout Bengals, UVA Falls to 23
The Washington Nationals will try to avoid a “one and done” scenario tonight when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Wild Card Game. The Nats, winners of 8 consecutive games to close the regular season, will send Max Scherzer to the mound, but all hands are on deck, as aces Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin will be ready in the bullpen. Brandon Woodruff gets the start for the Brewers. Air time is 7:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
According to the Washington Post, the Nationals have reportedly offered All-Star third baseman Anthony Rendon a 7-year contract worth between $210 and $215 million. Rendon is having a career year for the Nats and is eligible to test the free-agent market following the season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers blew out the Cincinnati Bengals in the Monday Night NFL game, 27-3. Mason Rudolph completed 24 of 28 for 229 yards and 2 TDs, as the Steelers won for the first time this season. The Bengals fell to 0-4.
And the latest AP College Football Poll shows Alabama vaulting to the top spot. Ohio State also moved up 3 places to number 2. Clemson fell to number 3 after stumbling this weekend in a win against North Carolina. LSU and Georgia round out the top 5. Virgina dropped to number 23.
