Nats Drop Opener To Cards, Browns Ground Jets, UVA 21 In AP Poll
The Washington Nationals September slide continued last night in St. Louis with a 4-2 defeat to the Cardinals. Marcell Ozuna drove in 4 for the Cards, including a 2-run homer in the first off Stephen Strasburg. The latest Nats’ bullpen culprits were Sean Doolittle and Hunter Strickland, who were each charged with a run in the deciding seventh inning. Anthony Rendon hit his 34th home run for Washington, which now finds itself just one-half game up in the NL Wild Card Race. The 2 teams play tonight starting at 7:15 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles lost their 101st game of the season last night, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Tigers. The O’s host Toronto tonight at Camden Yards.
In a rematch of the very first Monday Night Football game in 1970, the Cleveland Browns thrashed the New York Jets 23-3. Baker Mayfield threw for 325 yards, while Odell Beckham, Jr. hauled in 6 receptions for 161 yards. Cleveland evened it’s record at 1-1, while the Jets fall to 0-2 on the season.
And, the latest AP College Football Poll finds Virginia at number 21 after it’s win this weekend over Florida State. Clemson remains number-one, followed by Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Oklahoma.
