Nats Fall Short In Miami, Bears Claw ‘Hawks, Skins Add Receivers
On the Shenandoah University sports scene today, SU Women’s Volleyball entertains Catholic tonight at 7.
Meanwhile, SU senior Kayla Alderman was named ODAC Player Of The Week for field hockey, while junior Emily Cheatwood took the same honor for volleyball. Hornet’s quarterback Hayden Bauserman earned the ODAC POW offensive honor for his performance Saturday against Hobart. The Woodstock Central product threw for 471 yards,6 touchdown passes, and a school-record 46 completions in the 56-48 loss to the Statesmen.
The Miami Marlins spotted the Washington Nationals an early 4-0 lead, and rallied to beat the Nats 8-5 last night in South Florida. The Nationals got home runs from Victor Robles and Anthony Rendon in the loss. The 2 teams meet again tonight at 6:30 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
The O’s were blanked by Toronto 5-0 for their 107th loss of the season.
In Monday Night Football, the Bears handled the Seahawks 24-17, as the Bears defense sacked Seattle QB Russell Wilson 6 times. The Bears improved to 1-1 on the season, while the Seahawks fell to 0-2.
And, The Washington Redskins added 2 wide-receivers to their roster yesterday, signing former first-round pick Michael Floyd, and agreeing to a deal with former Raven Breshaud Perriman. The ‘Skins are thin at the receiver position, and had been in the Josh Gordon discussion until he was signed by New England yesterday.
