Millbrook outscored Jefferson 62-42
Clarke County shut out Buffalo Gap 35-0
Strasburg defeated East Hardy 35-13
Central fell to Luray 25-13
In college football last night, 9th-ranked Notre Dame pulled away from pesky Louisville 35-17. Over the weekend:
Virginia Tech lost at Boston College 35-28
UVA beat Pitt 30-14
and WVU survived against JMU 20-13
The Washington Nationals dropped a 7-3 decision to the New York Mets yesterday afternoon in DC. Noah Syndergaard tossed 7 innings of 3-hit shutout ball as the Nationals lost for only the 2nd time in their last 11 games. Joe Ross gave up all 7 runs in just 3 and 2/3 innings of work to take the loss. The only offense for the Nats was a 9th inning 3-run homer by Asdrubal Cabrera. The Nationals send Max Scherzer to the mound tonight against the Mets. Air time 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Orioles were walked off yesterday by Tampa 5-4. The 2 teams play today at 3:10.
And, at the US Open Tennis Tournament, number-one seed Naomi Osaka was ousted yesterday in the round of 16, while 2nd seed Rafael Nadal advanced on the men’s side. Roger Federer and Serena Williams play quarterfinal matches today.
