Skyline nipped Broadway 21-20
Central blanked Stonewall Jackson 42-0
Luray beat Strasburg 35-7
Page over Nelson 16-6
Sherando routed Jefferson 42-6
Clarke won by forfeit over Manassas Park
On Saturday…Handley beat Harrisonburg 24-17
Shenandoah University won it’s football opener on Saturday, 48-33 at Methodist. The Hornets scored TD’s on the ground, in the air, on special teams, and by interception. QB Hayden Bauserman was solid, throwing 3 TD passes in the win. SU will now host NC Wesleyan Saturday night at 7. Air time is 6:30 on the River 95-3.
Number 20 Virginia Tech handed NUmber 19 Florida State a 24-3 loss in Talahassee last night. The Hokie defense held the Seminoles to 3 points or fewer for the first time since 2008 in a dominating performance. Next up for the Hokies is a home date against William & Mary this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2pm in Blacksburg.
Regionally in college football this weekend:
UVA handled Richmond 42-13
JMU gave NC State all it could handle before falling 24-13,
and WVU pulled away from Tennessee 40-14
Bryce Harper hit a game-tying 2-run homer in the 9th…and the game winning sac fly in the 10th, as the Nationals beat the Cardinals yesterday 4-3. Max Scherzer went 7 innings for the Nats and struck out 11, but did not get a decision. The Nationals host St. Louis tonight at 7:05. Air time is 6:30 on NBC SportsRadio 1450
Seattle nipped Baltimore 2-1 yesterday. The 2 teams play tonight at 10:10.
