SU Scoreboard, Cards Deal Nats A Curly “L”, Caps Down Flyers

On the Shenandoah University sports scene, 4th-seeded Field Hockey advanced to the ODAC Tournament semifinals with an 11-2 win over 5th-seed Bridgewater yesterday. The Hornets will now take on top-seed Lynchburg on Friday. Meanwhile, SU Baseball moved up 3 spots to number 15 in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA national poll.

Today, Baseball visits Penn State-Harrisburg, Softball hosts Eastern Mennonite, Men’s Lacrosse entertains Mary Washington, and Women’s Lacrosse heads to Randolph-Macon.

The St. Louis Cardinals pounded out 15 hits in a 14-3 rout of the Washington Nationals last night. The Cards broke open the game with a 9-run fifth inning, chasing Nats’ starter Stephen Strasburg. The Nationals wrap up the series with St. Louis this afternoon starting at 12:45 on Sports Radio 1450.

And the Washington Capitals scored 4 goals in the first period on the way to a 6-1 win over Philadelphia. Six different Caps scored goals for Washington, including Alex Ovechkin. Ilya Samsonov stopped 29 of 30 Flyers shots, as the Capitals improved to 28-11-4. Next up for the Caps, a 7pm skate with the Buffalo Sabres tomorrow on The River 95-3.
