SU Bats Erupt, Strasburg Gives Up 3 HR’s In Loss, Rays Double Up O’s
The Shenandoah University baseball team improved to 19-9 yesterday with an 18-5 win over Marymount in a non-league game at Bridgeforth Field. SU scored in every inning in a 17-hit attack, including an 8-run third. The Hornets return to ODAC play this afternoon at 4 against Eastern Mennonite.
Shenandoah University Men’s golf finished second at the Glenn Heath Memorial in Williamsburg. Jeremy Mills shot a 74 yesterday and finished fourth overall.
In addition to baseball, Men and Women’s tennis, and Men’s lacrosse are in action today.
The Washington Nationals continue to struggle through the month of April, as they were beaten last night by San Francisco 7-3. Stephen Strasburg gave up 3 Giants home runs and took the loss for the Nats, who have lost 3 of 4 on the current homestand. Anthony Rendon extended his hitting streak to 14 games for Washington in the defeat. The two teams play game 2 of the series tonight, starting at 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
Tampa Bay erased an early 2-0 Baltimore lead and beat the Orioles last night 4-2. Dylan Bundy gave up only 3 hits and struck out 5 in his five innings of work for the O’s, but took the loss. The 2 teams play again tonight in Tampa. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10.
And the Washington Capitals return to the ice tomorrow night for game 4 of their opening round playoff series against Carolina. The Caps are coming off a 5-0 defeat to the Canes in game 3, but with a win tomorrow, could wrap up the best-of-seven series this weekend in DC.
