SU Punches ODAC Ticket, Nats Double Up Rockies, Do Or Die For Caps
On the Shenandoah University sports scene, Hornet baseball earned it’s way into the upcoming ODAC tournament with a 13-9 win over Washington & Lee yesterday. Shenandoah slugged it’s way to a 12-4 lead, only to see the Generals make things interesting at the end. Carson Kulina pitched 6 strong innings to improve to 4-0 on the season. Next up for SU baseball, a 3:30 road game today at Messiah.
Meanwhile, Bridgewater beat women’s tennis 7-2.

The Washington Nationals got a bases-clearing double from Victor Robles in a 4-run third inning, added 2 insurance runs in the 9th, and beat the Colorado Rockies last night 6-3. Patrick Corbin pitched 6 solid innings for the win, and the Nats bullpen finished up with 3 scoreless frames, as Washingtom improved to 11-11 on the season. The two teams finish up the series this afternoon at 3.
The Baltimore Orioles got back into the win column with a decisive 9-1 victory over the White Sox at Camden Yards. The Birds slugged 4 home runs and got a solid pitching performance from Andrew Cashner, who gave up just one run and 5 hits in 7 innings of work. The 2 teams play again tonight at Camden Yards at 7:05.
And, it’s a deciding Game 7 tonight in DC for the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes in their opening round NHL Playoff series. The teams are tied at 3 games apiece after the Canes’ 5-2 win Monday in Raleigh. The Caps have not fared well in game sevens in their playoff history, as they try to keep alive their defense of the Stanley Cup. Air time tonight from Capital One Arena is 7:15 on Sports radio 1450. The home team has won every game in this series.
