Nats Win Opener, Isles Blank Caps, SU Update

Juan Soto’s single in the bottom of the 9th completed a come-from-behind 6-5 Nationals’ win against the Atlanta Braves yesterday in front of 5-thousand fans at Nats Park. Washington plated runs in the 8th and 9th inning, as the Nationals finally got to play baseball after weekend COVID issues. Nationals’ starter Max Scherzer gave up 4 Braves homers in his first start of the year, but struck out 9, and retired 12 of the last 13 batters he faced. The Nats and Braves play a twinbill today starting at 11:35 on Sports Radio 1450.

The Capitals were shut out last night by the New York Islanders 1-0. Both teams are now 25-10-4 and tied for first in the NHL’s Eastern Division. The Boston Bruins visit DC tomorrow night. Air time is 6:45 on The River 95-3.

On the SU Scoreboard, Bridgewater blanked Women’s Soccer 2-0. Today, Men’s Golf competes against CNU in Williamsburg, Men’s Lacrosse plays at Roanoke, Baseball hosts Eastern Mennonite, and Women’s Lacrosse entertains Bridgewater.
