Ross Silences Reds, Yanks Beat O’s Again, Skins Prep For Bengals
The Washington Nationals earned a series win with a 3-1 win over Cincinnati last night in DC. Joe Ross had his third consecutive dominant performance on the mound, giving up just 1 run in 6 2/3rd innings. Juan Soto, who returned to the Nat’s lineup after Sunday’s ankle injury, hit a mammoth home run, and Brian Dozier also went deep with a solo shot to provide the Nationals with all the offense they would need. The 64-55 Nats go for the series sweep this afternoon starting at 3:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
Off the field, Max Scherzer threw a simulated 2-inning game for the Nationals yesterday. The Nats will assess the status of his ailing back again today in hopes that he is closer to returning to the starting rotation.
For the 15th consecutive time this season, the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles. The Yanks hammered the Birds 8-3 last night in New York to earn their 80th win of the season. The 2 teams play the series finale today at 1:05.
The Washington Redskins host the Cincinnati Bengals tomorrow night in their second pre-season game. The continuing storyline for the ‘Skins continues to be the quarterback competition. First-round draft choice Dwayne Haskins is expected to get plenty of work in the 7:30 contest from Fed-Ex Field.
And, your play-by-play home for Shenandoah University football in 2019 is The River 95-3/WZRV. The Hornets kick off their 20th season Saturday, September 7th, when they host Methodist.
