Winchester Public Schools has announced that 1991 Handley High School grad Reed Prosser will return to his alma mater as the school’s new Athletic Director. The 45-year old Prosser replaces Rick Lilly, who stepped down in July. As a head football coach, Prosser revived programs at Millbrook, Broadway, and Heritage, and was also an assistant for Walter Barr at Shenandoah University.
No 9th inning drama for the Washington Nationals last night in a 6-4 defeat at St. Louis. The loss marks the third straight for the Nats, who fall 8 games behind Atlanta in the NL East. Bryce Harper hit his 30th homer for the Nationals, who take on the Cardinals again tonight at 7:40 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
The Orioles got in the win column for only the 36th time this season in a 6-3 win over the Mets. Chris Davis and Adam Jones went deep for the O’s, who take on the Mets again tonight at Camden Yards.
And just 5 months after signing him to a 2-year deal with a $1 million signing bonus, the Redskins have released cornerback Orlando Scandrick. Scandrick spent his first 9 years with the Cowboys. The ‘Skins take on the Jets tomorrow night at Fed-Ex field.
