Area High School Hoop, Cavaliers rout Tech, Caps Now Out Of First
In area high school girls basketball last night:
Handley nipped Sherando 45-43
Page defeated East Rockingham 49-45
William Monroe beat Skyline 44-34
and Wilson Memorial got past Luray 63-62
In boys high school hoop:
William Monroe handled Skyline 65-55
Central beat Strasburg 67-48
Handley routed Sherando 71-48
Page defeated East Rockingham 88-48
and William Monroe defeated Luray 68-34
The Shenandoah University men and women get back on the hardwoods tonight. The Hornet women will travel to Eastern Mennonite for a 7pm tip, while the men are on the road at Marymount. Tip off is scheduled for 7pm on The River 95-3.
Number-4 UVA ran past ninth-ranked Virginia Tech last night 81-59. The Cavaliers made 10 of 14 three-pointers in the first half and led by 22 at the break. UVA stays undefeated at 16-0, while Tech drops to 14-2 on the season.
West Virginia was blown out last night by TCU 98-67 and fell to 0-5 in the Big-12.
A 4-goal second period propelled the Nashville Predators past the Washington Capitals last night 7-2. With the loss, the Caps fell out of first place in the NHL’s Metro Division.
