Caps Lose In OT, Hornet Hoop Tonight, Area HS Results

In area boy’s basketball last night, Warren County nipped Woodstock Central 44-42, while Handley stopped Liberty 58-43. In girl’s action, Warren county defeated Woodstock Central 57-50, and Page routed Rappahannock 70-37.

Sidney Crosby’s overtime goal was the difference in a 5-4 Pittsburgh Penguins’ win over the Washington Capitals last night. The Caps took a 3-1 lead thanks to 2 Tom Wilson goals, but saw the Pens rally, and then win in the extra period. The 2-0-2 Capitals play their home-opener Friday night against Buffalo, with a 6:45 air time on The River 95-3. And, the Shenandoah Hornets begin a limited winter schedule of men’s basketball tonight when they host Mary Baldwin at the Wilkins Center. No fans will be permitted in person, but you can hear the call starting at 4:40 with Mike O’dell and Dick Helm on The River 95-3. Tip off is at 5.
