Area HS B-Ball, Hornet Women Win, Big 2nd Period Lifts Caps

The James Wood girls beat Liberty 56-37
Millbrook’s girls routed Handley 75-46
In boy’s basketball:
Central fell to George Mason 62-46
St. John Paul The Great outlasted Wakefield 79-67
Clarke beat Strasburg 51-44
It was Handley over Millbrook 54-47
Liberty defeated James Wood 68-48
Madison outlasted Rappahannock 68-62
The Shenandoah University women evened their record to 7-7 last night with a 73-62 win at Bridgewater. The Hornets broke open a tight contest by outscoring the Eagles 38-29 in the second half to earn their 3rd ODAC win of the season. Ashley Stone poured in 23 for Shenandoah, who travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a Thursday 7pm tip off.
The Hornet men are in Ashland tonight to take on nationally-ranked Randolph Macon at 7. You can catch the action on The River 95-3.

Number 4 UVA plays at Boston College
Ninth-ranked Virginia Tech will be at Georgia Tech
And WVU is on the road at K-State.
The Washington Capitals used a 3-goal outburst in the second period to skate past the Philadelphia Flyers last night in DC, 5-3. Jakub Vrana and TJ Oshie scored a pair of goals each for the Caps, who improved to 26-12-4. Next up for Washington, a 7pm skate tomorrow in Boston on Sports Radio 1450.
And, the Wizards were blown out by the 76ers 132-115 and are now 16-25 on the season.
