Cuomo Approves USTA Plan, NBA Update, Dale Jr. Leads HOF Class
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday approved the USTA proposal to hold the US Open Tennis Tournament, without fans, starting August 31st at Flushing Meadows in Queens. Protections planned for the Grand Slam event include strong testing, limiting player entourages, extra locker room space, and additional cleaning.
The NBA Players Association told members yesterday that players will have until June 24th to tell their teams whether they plan to participate in the league’s return-to-play plan at Disney World, according to a memo obtained by ESPN. Those who don’t will be docked some of their pay. The players will reportedly stay at 3 Disney World Hotels.
And, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. leads this year’s NASCAR Hall of Fame class, despite never winning a series championship. Earnhardt, who retired as a full time driver after the 2017 season, will be inducted into the Hall in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with the late Mike Stefanik and Red Farmer.
