For the second straight night, the weather was the winner in DC, as the Nats-Phillies game was rained out. That game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in September. Meanwhile, because of Monday’s rainout, the Nationals will play a split twinbill with Philadelphia today. Air time for game 1 is 12:35 on Sports Radio 1450, while Game 2 is on the air at 6:35.
Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer suffered a broken nose during batting practice yesterday before the Nats’ scheduled game with the Phillies. Scherzer suffered the injury when the ball flew back into his face on an attempted bunt. The team said Scherzer underwent a CT scan, and it’s unclear whether he will pitch today in the team’s doubleheader.
The Oakland A’s scored 10 runs in the 6th inning on the way to a 16-2 win over the Orioles last night. The A’s pounded out 15 hits and blasted 6 home runs in the laugher that dropped the O’s to 21-52 on the season. The 2 teams play the series fianle at 3:37 this afternoon.
