Caps Win In OT, ACC Tourney Results, Strasburg Strong in Spring Training Debut
Jakub Vrana’s overtime goal was the difference in a 5-4 Capitals win over New Jersey last night at Verizon Center. The Caps squandered leads of 3-0 and 4-1, as the Devils took the game into the extra period, where Vrana tallied his second goal of the night. The 15-6-4 Capitals play the first of 2 games with Philadelphia tomorrow night. Air time is 6:45 on The River 95-3.
In the opening round of the ACC Basketball Tournament in Greensboro, Notre Dame nippedwake Forest at the buzzer 80-77. Duke blew out Boston College 86-51, and Miami shaded Pitt 79-73. Today, NC State takes on Syracuse at noon, Miami plays Clemson at 2:30, it’s Duke versus Louisville at 6:30, and North Carolina plays Notre Dame in the 9pm nightcap. Virginia and Virginia Tech both play on Thursday.
The Big East and Big 12 start their tournaments today.
And , Stephen Strasburg struck out 4 of the 6 batters he faced, as the Washington Nationals tied Houston yesterday in Spring Training baseball 4-4. It was the first outing for Strasburg since having carpal tunnel surgery, and his first action in seven months. The Nats take on the Cardinals today at 1:05.
