Hornet Softball Wins, Caps Streak Ends, Hokies Begin ACC Tourney Play
On the Shenandoah University sports scene yesterday,
Softball took 2 from Rhode Island College 10-9 and 13-0
Men’s Lacrosse lost at Frostburg State 14-4
And Men’s Golf finished 14th and Women’s Golf 6th at the Adidas/Taylor Made tournament in Beaufort, SC.
Men and Women’s Tennis will be at Guilford
Softball travels to Hood for a doubleheader
Baseball heads to Mary Washington
and Women’s Lacrosse will play at Frostburg State.
The Washington Capitals lost a 2-goal lead in a stretch of 3 minutes in the second period and dropped a 5-3 decision last night in Pittsburgh. The loss ends the Cap’s 7-game win streak. In the contest, Alex Ovechkin picked up his 1200th career point. Next up, a trip to Philadelphia against the Flyers. Air time 6:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
The Virginia Tech Hokies begin ACC Tournament play this afternoon, when the take on the 12th-seeded Miami Hurricanes. The 5th seeded and 16th ranked Hokies enter the contest at 23-7 and are in all likelihood, safely into the NCAA Tournament field, win or lose.
Meanwhile, only a miracle run through the Big-12 Tournament will get WVU into the “Big Dance.” The last-place Mounties will take on 7th-seeded Oklahoma in a first-round conference tournament game tonight at 9pm.
And, in blockbuster NFL news yesterday, New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
