It’s Official: Olympics PPD, Newton Released, NL East News
The IOC made it official yesterday. The 2020 Summer Olympic Games have been postponed until sometime in 2021. It’s the first time in history that the Games have been postponed. The Olympics were canceled altogether in 1916, 1940, and 1944.
In NFL news, the Carolina Panthers have released quarterback Cam Newton. In his 9 years with the team, Newton earned Rookie Of The Year and MVP honors, and led the team to a Super Bowl appearance. The 30 year-old Newton has been hampered by multiple injuries over the last 2 seasons.
To MLB, where New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard will proceed with surgery on his right elbow. The procedure will keep him out of action until at least April 2021.
And…Obi Toppin of the Dayton Flyers has been named the AP Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year. Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu is the Women’s Player Of The Year. She’s the first player in NCAA history to exceed 2000 points, 1000 rebounds, and 1000 assists.
