SU Baseball Wins On Senior Night, Nats Slide Continues, O’s Rained Out
Shenandoah University baseball improved to 26-11 with a Senior Night win over Elizabethtown (PA) 7-6 at Bridgeforth Field. The Hornets jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but needed Wyatt Potter’s pinch hit single in the bottom of the ninth to get the win over the 12-25 Blue Jays. SU, which honored 11 Seniors before the game, will get back into action this weekend against Hampden-Sydney in the ODAC tournament.
Shenandoah Men’s golf moved up another spot and finished 7th at the ODAC Championships in Greensboro. Connor McCarthy’s one over 73 helped the Hornets to a collective 313 yesterday.
Meanwhile, SU finished a solid second on the women’s side with a collective 347 yesterday. It was the best-ever finish for the Hornets at the ODAC Championships.
Today on the SU schedule, Women’s lacrosse will play at Lynchburg in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament, while Track & Field competes at the Liberty Twilight meet in Lynchburg.
The Washington Nationals fell to 12-16 on the season after a 3-2 loss to St. Louis last night at Nats Park. The Nationals took a 2-0 lead in the third on home runs by Adam Eaton and Victor Robles, only to see the Cardinals answer with 3 runs in the fourth off Anibal Sanchez. The two teams meet again tonight in DC, with Max Scherzer on the hill for the Nationals. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The O’s and White Sox were washed out last night in Chicago. The two teams will play a doubleheader today starting at 4:10.
And Omaha Beach is the early 4-to-1 favorite to win Saturday’s 145th running of the Kentucky Derby. Post time is 6:46 pm from Churchill Downs in Lexington.
