Nats To Unveil Rings, Some NFL Facilities Open, NASCAR Again Tonight
The Washington Nationals announced yesterday that they’ll unveil their 2019 World Series rings during a virtual ceremony on Sunday. The ceremony, without fans, will be shown on MASN, The MLB Network, and online.
Some NFL teams reopened their practice facilities yesterday, but the number was limited because of ongoing state and local pandemic restrictions. In this first phase, coaching staff and all players not undergoing injury rehab aren’t yet allowed at the facilities. The teams that did open yesterday were Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Arizona, Kansas City, and Indianapolis.
NASCAR is back in action tonight at Darlington. It’s the second Cup Series race following the coronavirus shutdown, and the first Wednesday night race in 36 years. The Toyota 500 will be run without fans.
And, the third event in horse racing’s Triple Crown will be run first, as the Belmont Stakes has been scheduled for June 20th. That’s a 2-week delay from it’s usual date. The race will also be shorter, 1 & 1/8 miles instead of the usual 1 & 1/2 miles, and will be run without fans. The Kentucky Derby & Preakness were rescheduled for the Fall.
