Nats Advance To NLDS, SU Women’s XC Ranked 8th, Caps Season Begins
Juan Soto’s bases-loaded, misplayed single to right field in the 8th inning gave the Washington Nationals a 4-3 win over Milwaukee in the NL Wild Card game last night in DC. Max Scherzer gave up 2 early home runs to put the Nats in an early 3-0 hole, before Trea Turner’s solo homer cut the Brewers lead to 3-1 in the third. Stephen Strasburg pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief before handing the ball to Daniel Hudson, who picked up the save in front of 43,000 fans at Nationals Park. The Nationals now head west for games 1 & 2 of the NL Divisional round against the Dodgers. First pitch of game 1 tomorrow night is 8:37 on Sports Radio 1450.
The AL Wild Card game takes place tonight as Tampa visits Oakland. First pitch is scheduled for 8:09. The winner moves on to face the Houston Astros in the ALDS.
The Shenandoah University women’s cross country is ranked number 8 in the South/Southeast Region in the latest USTFCCCA poll released yesterday. The Hornets were previously unranked, but moved into the top 10 after a strong 3rd place finish at their Hornet Harrier event.
