Nats Blanked By Twins, Dodgers Clinch In Birdland, ‘Skins Moves
The Washington Nationals were shut out in Minnestoa last night 5-0. The Nats’ Anibal Sanchez and the Twins’ Jose Berrios locked up in a scoreless pitcher’s duel until the 7th, when Mitch Garver hit a 2-run homer for Minnesota. The Twins put the game on ice with 3 in the 9th off Tanner Rainey. Meanwhile, the Nationals had only 2 hits on the night, as they fall to 79-64, but maintained their 2 and 1/2 game lead in the NL Wild Card standings. The 2 teams play again tonight. Air time is 7:10 on Sports Radio 1450.
The LA Dodgers clinched the NL West title last night with a 7-3 win in Baltimore. Cory Seager drove in 5 for the Dodgers, and Walker Buehler struck out 11 for Los Angeles. The 2 teams play again tonight at Camden Yards. First pitch is 7:05.
The Washington Redskins made several moves yesterday. The team released tight end J.P. Holtz, which could clear the way for the return of Jordan Reed. The oft-injured Reed was inactive last week due to the NFL concussion protocol. Meanwhile, the Redskins signed cornerback Simeon Thomas from the Seattle practice squad. Washington
hosts the Cowboys this Sunday at 1pm.
